Fancy a green getaway? Ecotourism is booming in Australia and while most accommodation options are taking steps to reduce their impact, a niche for environmentally friendly options has resulted in the introduction of eco lodges.  Found in remote areas, they tend to be in relatively pristine natural environments like jungles, beaches and mountains.  Expect renewable energy sources, non-toxic cleaning supplies, water conservation methods and plenty of recycling.

There’s cabins around the country, old train carriages and even a plane.  Our office favourite was the igloo by the sea in Trinity Beach.  Options are endless and located worldwide; just make sure you get in early as the quirky options tend to book out quickly. 

Glamping

Love the idea of camping but miss the comforts of a real bed? Glamping or “glamour camping” could be for you. This luxury option is available all around Australia with most companies supplying a spacious tent with proper bed (often completed with a slathering of fairy lights). Think luxe linens, mains power, fresh water, magazines, bean bags and more!
