TelstraSuper Chief Executive Officer Chris Davies said that the Fund was pleased to deliver a strong result for members despite the challenging economic conditions.

“We’re proud to deliver another year of outstanding returns for our members, building on our already strong long-term performance,” said Mr Davies. “2022 has been a challenging year for all super funds, however our significant investment into logistics and warehouse facilities – among with other things – have proven advantageous.”

TelstraSuper’s property portfolio is managed using a combination of in-house professionals as well as external fund managers.  This includes using hybrid models where we form a close relationship with external managers to develop bespoke investment opportunities.

“Having these bespoke structures  gives us a lot more control and visibility of our investments than some of the other super funds,” said Mr Davies. “We’re the perfect size, allowing us to be highly selective in the investment opportunities we choose to make.”

Mr Davies said that while it was fantastic to achieve the highest super performance for 2022, the fund’s focus is firmly on delivering consistently strong returns over the long term.

“Superannuation is a long-term investment, so we develop our investment strategies accordingly,” said Mr Davies. “We know that , even if you retire today, your super is likely still going to be invested for many years to come.  That’s why we’ve put so much effort into our award-winning pension products.”
