Luckily, being irreplaceable at work isn’t about working harder, just smarter! Try out these 3 tips to have your colleagues feeling like they couldn’t get by without you.

1. Put your hand up
Volunteer to work on key projects that will give you exposure to the wider business. You’ll look like a team player and someone who can do work beyond the BAU of your team.

2. Become an expert

Figure out what skills you have and use them to your advantage. Becoming an expert at a particular task and showing a willingness to learn new skills will make you hard to pass over.

3. Build relationships

Building relationships with key people in the business is crucial. Being on friendly terms with people from across the business and making sure they know you’re good at your job is a sure-fire way to be in the running for opportunities as they arise. And don’t forget the simple things that we should all be doing– be friendly and polite, give and take feedback in a positive way and include others. You’ll have managers in a bidding war to keep you on!
