Many of us have become so used to working from home it can be hard to adjust to those days when we’re back in a noisy open plan office.

We’ve got 4 great tips to keep you focused when you’re in the office:

1. Use your headphones

They can reduce noise, but they also send a message to your colleagues that you don’t want to be disturbed.

2. Avoid digital distractions

Turn off notifications on your phone and don’t put your phone on your desk where you can be easily distracted by it.

3. Use breakout spaces and book a room

If you need to get away from the chatter, or just need to put your head down and focus without interruption, booking a room will give you solitary time to focus.

4. Do lighter tasks

On days when you’re in the office, prioritise work that doesn’t demand too much concentration. Do the work that requires deep thinking on days when you can work from home.

5. Take calls privately

And to be considerate to co-workers in an open plan office, take personal calls away from your desk if you can and take lengthy one-on-one chats to the lounge area or café.
