Superannuation is a long-term investment, and we believe it is essential to consider the long-term prospects of the investments we make on behalf of our members. We seek to integrate significant Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into our overall investment management and decision-making processes in a manner consistent with our ESG Policy and, where applicable, our Climate Change Action Plan.

Our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Approach

TelstraSuper’s fundamental objective is to responsibly enhance the financial security of our members in retirement. To assist us in achieving this objective, our approach to managing ESG related risk and opportunities is supported by our ESG beliefs as contained within our Environmental, Social and Governance Policy (ESG Policy).

Our ESG Policy also sets out five key principles that guide our approach to ESG management:

  1. ESG Integration
  2. Active Ownership
  3. Systemic ESG Issues
  4. Collaboration and Advocacy
  5. Exclusions, in limited circumstances.

We believe that incorporating material ESG considerations into investment decision-making and engaging as long-term owners is important.

We seek to incorporate material ESG considerations in our investment management processes in a manner that is consistent with our ESG Policy, while also ensuring compliance with TelstraSuper's statutory and regulatory duties and obligations.

TelstraSuper was recognised as the Responsible Super Fund Leader of 2023 by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA). This recognition acknowledges our commitment to governance and accountability, implementation of our ESG approach, appropriate measurement of outcomes, and enhanced transparency.
